However, many potential adventurers wonder about the cost of such an excursion. Let’s delve into the factors influencing the price of hot air balloon rides in Kenya and what travellers can expect in terms of pricing.
Location and Scenic Routes
The cost of a hot air balloon ride in Kenya can vary depending on the location and the scenic route chosen. Popular destinations such as the Masai Mara National Reserve offer spectacular views of the savannah teeming with wildlife, including the iconic Big Five. The price may be higher for balloon rides in renowned wildlife reserves due to the exclusivity of the experience and the stunning vistas they offer.

Duration of the Flight
Hot air balloon rides in Kenya typically last for about one to two hours, allowing passengers ample time to admire the landscape and observe wildlife from above. The duration of the flight can impact the overall cost, with longer flights often commanding higher prices.

Time of Year and Seasonal Rates
The cost of hot air balloon rides in Kenya may also be influenced by the time of year and seasonal demand. Peak tourist seasons, such as the Great Migration in the Masai Mara or the dry season when wildlife congregates around water sources, tend to coincide with higher prices for balloon rides. Conversely, travellers may find more competitive rates during the off-peak season or shoulder months when tourist numbers are lower.
Operator Reputation and Services Included
The reputation and quality of the hot air balloon operator can also impact the cost of the experience. However, travellers can expect professionalism, experienced pilots, and well-maintained equipment, ensuring a safe and enjoyable flight experience. Additionally, the inclusion of amenities such as transportation to and from the launch site, pre-flight refreshments, and post-flight celebrations can contribute to the overall cost.

Group Size and Private Charters
The size of the group and the option for private charters can influence the cost of hot air balloon rides in Kenya. We offer discounts for larger groups booking multiple balloons, while others provide exclusive experiences for private charters. Private charters allow travelers to enjoy a more intimate and personalized flight experience, tailored to their preferences but may come with a higher price tag compared to shared group rides.
Embarking on a hot air balloon ride over Kenya with promises an unparalleled adventure, offering a bird’s-eye view of the country’s diverse landscapes and abundant wildlife. While the cost of such an experience may vary depending on factors such as location, duration, season, operator reputation, and group size, the memories and awe-inspiring sights encountered during the journey are truly priceless. Whether soaring above the Masai Mara or drifting over the Amboseli National Park, the magic of a hot air balloon ride in Kenya is an experience worth every penny.
Questions guests ask
Can I do a hot-air balloon safari or ride a horse?
Yes. Balloons lift off at dawn and drift over the plains for about an hour, ending with a bush breakfast — flights are run by licensed operators and booked as an extra. Guided nature walks and horse rides for suitable riders happen outside the reserve, where walking and riding are allowed.
How many rooms does the camp have?
Twenty rooms under canvas — intimate enough to feel personal, with space for couples, families, friends and groups travelling together. Room styles include the Double Tent, the Executive Twin Tent, the Honeymooner’s Tent and the Two-Bedroom Family Tent, each with its own verandah and en-suite bathroom.
How much are the Maasai Mara park fees?
Narok County sets the reserve entry fees, not the camp. For 2026 it lists non-resident adults at USD 100 per day from January to June and USD 200 per day from July to December, with lower rates for Kenyan citizens, residents and children. Fees are charged per 24-hour entry and do change — check before you travel.
